The Washington Institute of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery is a group practice formed by five Cardiothoracic Surgeons in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. The Institute specializes in all aspects of Cardiothoracic Surgery with a particular interest in the development and application of minimally-invasive techniques. All members of the Institute hold academic positions at The George Washington University, where they teach and mentor medical students and developing surgeons in training.

The Washington Institute of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery is dedicated to:

• Responsiveness to the needs of patients and referring physicians, including complete access to records and results

One of the most exciting advances in the field of Cardiothoracic Surgery is the application of Robotic Techniques. The Institute has a leading role at The George Washington University Hospital in the development of these procedures, including treatments for:

• Lung Cancer
• Esophageal Cancer
• Pericardial Disease
• Electrophysiological Disorders

The Institute surgeons have operating privileges at The George Washington University Hospital (DC), Georgetown University Hospital (DC) and Harbor Hospital (Baltimore) enabling them to provide highly specialized services to patients in a wide geographic area.
